Chapter 21
Pablo Picasso has always caught my eyes his painting are just beautiful because they are so calming and inspiring. Pablo Picasso was born in a Spanish city called Malaga. He attended art schools in Barcelona and Madrid so he does have alot of experince with painting. I like how his paintings were concentrated on images that were poverty and emotional depression because thats how they were calming. His painting that I like is called Self portrait with Palette made in 1906 and its also an oil canvas which is stored in the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Georges Braque was also a wonderful artist that also is similar to Pablo Picasso because their drawinging just look the same and very calming. the paiting that I like is called The Emigrant its also oil on canvas. It has circles and lines all over and has letters on the top and the colors are brown, beige, and light green.

Chapter 3
One of my all time favorite artists is Frida Kahlo. She is a mexican painter who does not provide us with easy way into her thoughts. She began to paint while recovering from a streetcar accident that left her body shattered and unable to bear children. She would go through periods of pain fro the rest of her life and undergo dozens of operations. Her first painting was a self portait. in this painting it has her wearing a mexican dress and her 4 pet monkeys. It show that her monkeys are both protective and possessive in their gertures. She quotes " I never painted dreams," " I painted my own reality".
Another great artist is Pat Steir. people might think his painting is bland but I think its pretty. Its 9 feet in height and 11 feet wide. the painting is called Summer Moon. It has a very calming background and it evokes suddenness and suprise followed by echoes and fadings. These two artist's are similar because they draw to what comes in mind and nbot planned.

11-1-11
Tuesdays class was pretty fun we had our second potluck and watched a documentary called Terminal 5. It's about a young gallery designer who wants to transform an old terminal named JFK into a gallery with art work from certain artist's whose work turns into the whole theme of the history of the airport terminal. The terminal was shut down that day and all the art work was ordered to be taken out because things were being stolen and empty bottles of alcohol were lying around. The young women who created the gallery had put everything into the gallery, she does not regret the whole experience. She at least got to open it for one night and some visitors that Im sure that say there happy their the ones that got to view the gallery.

week 11
This week in Art 100 we learned about 4 types of literacy, text literacy, visual literacy, network literacy, and educational literacy, which Glenn made up. He also mentioned about how the government killed wiki peaks and how the recording industry killed Napster both out of fear. We also watched some clips from The Reader which was pretty interesting. We also discussed about having cellphones and texting. It is so weird how it hasn't been that long since cell phones were invented but this technology sometimes can be distracting. It sometimes distracts us while studying and doing hw. This would be related to educational liberate.
Two artists that I really enjoy looking at their art is Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. They both are canvas, pop art from the 1960's, and they both are colorful. Andy Warhol drew a picture of Marilyn Monroe who is a glamorous film star who is my favorite and the picture he drew is called "Gold Marilyn Monroe".
Roy Lichtenstein based his imagery on comic book which I like because it is very unique. His painting are large, meticulously rendered frames from comic stripes. his painting that I fell for is called "Masterpiece".

Late Blog Post :( Ch 4.
In the 1850's a German-born american painter name Albert Bierstabt accompained a corps of U.S Army engineers. On their expedition he made sketchesthat later became spectacular paintings. One of his paintings that catches my view is a landscape and its called " The Rocky Mountains" which he drew in 1863. It has horses, tipis, water falls, hills, and mountains. Its also oil canvas and it is stored in the Museum of Art in New York.
Another artist that is related to Albert Bierstabt is Huang Gongwang. He did a Chinese landscape painting in the 14 century. Its called " Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains". Its brush and black ink on paper. This picture is related to the "Rocky Mountains" because its both similar on the viewing of it and it has hills and trees on it but, this particular painting also has houses in it. This painting is located at the National Palace Museum in Taipei.
Both of these painting are my favorite because it has a nice viewing.
~Our First Drawing~
This is the image that I drew last week (Tuesday). Professor Glenn broke down the images into 5 sections on the projector in class. We started it by drawing lines from the bottom of the picture, upside down, step by step. It was very relaxing and I really enjoyed because ihave never took an art class and on tuesday it was our first night of drawing a picture. It's fun to draw and listen to music at the same time time especially in a quiet room.
